Project Title:
Workplace English Customized Program
Brief:
Unable to find an off-the-shelf Workplace English program that met their
needs, Taco Bell was interested in a custom Workplace English program
that would help improve communication between employees and between
employees and customers. They wanted the primary focus of the program
to be on life skills that would help their employees in their daily
lives as well.
The goal of the program was to help maximize the personal and professional
potential of employees who were being held back by their inability to
speak English.
Since implementation of the program would be conducted by unit level
managers that, for the most part, could not speak Spanish, it was necessary
that the program be designed in a way that these individuals could lead
the training. This would be accomplished through the creation of a detailed
implementation guide for managers that would be used in conjunction
with the tools designed for learners, which included two audio CD's,
a deck of 200 flash cards, learner skillbooks and a poster of common
terms.
Program Materials: Manager's Implementation Guide, Learner Skillbook,
Flash Card Deck, Audio CDs, Poster of Common Terms, Manager and Learner
Commitment Forms, Manager and Learner Feedback Forms.
Testimonial:
"We contacted Pencom International in 2004 about creating a custom
Workplace English program for Taco Bell's frontline employees. From
the materials they developed for learners to the implementation guide
for managers, the program is outstanding!
Our work with Pencom's design and development team has proceeded
very smoothly. The work they've completed on the program, from graphic
design to content to implementation has been first rate and they have
been very flexible in helping us meet our needs. We've been very pleased
with the results achieved during the two initial test phases conducted
with over two hundred of our restaurants."
